Re-scheduling of ICUP 2020

With regret, the ICUP Organising and Executive Committees have decided to postpone the 10th ICUP Conference planned for June 2020 in Barcelona, Spain. The Conference is now re-scheduled for September 2021, at the same location.

This decision is based on the continued spread and impact of the Covid-19 virus (Corona virus). The health and safety of our delegates, as well as minimising disruption, are our major priorities. We believe that moving the ICUP to September 2021 will reduce risks and ensure a more successful event.

The new confirmed Conference dates are 13th-15th September 2021, in the same venue, at Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain.

You will doubtless you have questions about the new arrangements. We have been working on the alternative plans, and have now prepared a new Q&A section. We hope this will address your various questions.

We value the support of the ICUP community during this response to the unexpected and unprecedented global situation, and wish you all well at this challenging time.

  • If I’ve registered for 2020 already, does my registration hold for the new date?

    All types of tickets already purchased for the ICUP 2020 Conference will be refunded, they unfortunately do NOT remain valid for access to the conference on the new dates set from September 13 to 15, 2021. You need to re-register following the instructions and deadlines that will be soon available on www.icup2021.com.

    Please be patient to receive the refund, the technical Secretariat will do its best to make it in the shortest time possible; you will be contacted soon with more instructions.

  • If I’ve registered for 2020, can I have a refund, as I can’t attend on the new date?

  • If I’ve submitted a text for a paper, what shall I do to participate with the same paper or a reviewed one in the revised event?

    ICUP 2021 will have new deadlines to submit a paper. Authors will be informed about the dates starting from when the paper can be submitted again. Note that papers submitted for ICUP 2020 will NOT be automatically charged into the new platform. You must submit again the paper for ICUP 2021 following the instructions that will be available on the new webpage www.icup2021.com

  • Cancellation Letter

    A formal letter of cancellation is available and can be shared with your institution, funding agency, and others.

  • Can I get a refund from airlines for trips cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns?

    Airlines are starting to be more flexible and generous with their refund policies, but there is no blanket policy about refunds. The refund of your flight reservations would be up to the discretion of the provider. The formal ICUP cancellation letter is intended to help with this situation.

  • Will attendees, speakers and exhibitors be refunded for airline tickets or other transportation or hotel and housing expenses?

    Unfortunately, ICUP 2020 is not in a position to reimburse attendees for travel or hotel costs. Attendees and exhibitors should cancel any personal arrangements they’ve made, such as travel and accommodation reservations.   • I have already booked my hotel; do I have to cancel and re-book? Or how can I obtain a refund?

    Following the cancellation policy of the “official” hotels listed at www.icup2020.com you can cancel and obtain the refund (100%). Please contact directly to the hotel that manages your reservation. If you finally chose to book your stay in another hotel/through another platform please contact directly to the hotel.
